Senior Project Manager

Davy is Ireland’s leading provider of stockbroking, wealth management and financial advisory services. We offer a broad range of services to private clients, small businesses, corporations and institutional investors, and organise our activities around four interrelated business areas - Capital Markets, Corporate Finance, Private Clients and Research.

A vacancy has arisen for a Senior Project Manager within the Information Systems department. As a key member of the team, the successful candidate will work with Information Systems team members and business users to define requirements and manage projects from business case preparation to final implementation.

This role will involve working with our existing web development team to significantly enhance the services offered to our clients through our web platform using latest technologies.

The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of experience in a similar position and will possess a strong commitment to satisfying business objectives. The ideal candidate will also be keen to influence, shape and drive project implementations.

Responsbilities
    • Produce scope documentation for projects and manage to it throughout project lifecycle;
    • Work with other Business Analysts, or individually, to lead requirements gathering sessions to complete business requirements and technical design documentation;
    • Evaluate 3rd party solutions where applicable and assess product suitability;
    • Work with developers to ensure requirements are understood and appropriate technical documentation has been prepared;
    • Manage 3rd party solution providers to ensure deliverables are received on time and to specification and budget;
    • Establish communication plans and delivering project status by publishing high quality project reports and presentations;
    • Manage risks and issues effectively by resolving or escalating to the appropriate individuals;
    • Manage multiple key projects at a time, with accountability to prioritise work and ensure all project timelines are met;
    • Monitor project progress and report performance against plan;
    • Manage change control process;
    • Maintain project documentation according to team methodology (risk and issue log, project plan, change control, status reports, etc);
    • Manage and oversee the testing phases of projects;
    • Facilitate internal and external project meetings and provide meeting minutes;
Requirements:
    • A Computer Science/Information Technology related degree;
    • 6+ years experience with a proven track record in a technically challenging environment;
    • Several years experience of project management, with experience of methodologies e.g. PMBOK or PRINCE2;
    • Demonstrable experience in eliciting and preparing business requirements;
    • Several years of delivery experience within the financial services industry, with an understanding of software development from initial requirements through to deployment and ongoing maintenance and support;
    • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work well in cross-functional project teams;
    • Ability to explain technical concepts to all audiences within all levels of an organization;
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal;
    • Experience designing, managing and implementing process change;
    • Experience in implementing 3rd party solutions in addition to managing internally designed and developed applications;
    • Proven ability to achieve results in a complex, often ambiguous environment;
    • An ability to work under pressure and prioritise workloads and achieve critical deadlines;
    • A flexible, positive attitude towards work and be a team player;
    • Enthusiastic and structured approach to planning with good problem solving abilities.
